Resurrection of Studio S Design

For years I had my own design studio. My husband and I are both artists and both do freelance art. In the past couple of years we both just let the work diminish as we spent much time with our family and volunteering. The death of my father made me realize that the art we did was an important part of who we are. So, we will be resurrecting our design studio and pushing ourselves to spend time working in it.

Getaways

August, what a great month! I was fortunate to visit in Truro, MA with good friends and then attend my nephew's wedding in Tyson's Corner, VA. Those getaways have also helped me regroup.

Today, I took a drive to Lahaska, PA to order frames for my new paintings and for the paintings I recently purchased. I can't wait to pick them up next week. I will be posting my paintings as soon as I have some time.

Something Really New

After 30 years of painting and teaching, I am discovering a new way of teaching and reaching out to people. Technology. I am not certain, given all my time constraints and commitments, how often I will be able to keep up with this blog, but I will be trying.

This past year has been emotionally and mentally challenging. I became recharged during July while taking a painting workshop in Stockton, NJ. The group of people I met were incredible. We actually spent one afternoon working through lunch. However, we decided to pattern the afternoon after Winston Churchill. In Newsweek it was noted that Churchill loved to paint as his release. No matter where he traveled or how busy his day, he would end his day with a cigar, a glass of champagne, and paint a picture of his locale. We spent the afternoon eating, sampling wines from Phillips Fine Wines and painted (more than any other day!).
